SIGGRAPH ASIA 2015 Workshop on
Head-Up Display and their Applications


This full-day workshop aims to share state of the art technologies and innovative concepts on HUD (Head-Up Display) among developers, researchers, and designers in automotive and relevant industries. Recently, AR (Augmented Reality) glasses, just like Google glass, have been developed, and implementations using the AR technologies are expected to be installed into everyday devices. The HUD, in which the AR is applied to automotive information provision devices, are now on the market and becoming popular. The HUD presents speedometer, several warnings, and route guidance on the vehicle windshield. The drivers obtain various kinds of information without their eye movements. However, CG presentation methods, advanced contents technologies as well as human factors issues should be considered in order to develop the HUD contributing enhancing safety and convenience while driving. We launch this workshop to get common understandings of how we apply AR to automotive devices and of what we can expect from the HUD in the future.
